Abstract

Abstract: This paper reviews the literature on suggestibility and it is argued that ‘interrogative suggestibility’ bears little resemblance to traditional types of suggestibility and requires a separate model of understanding. The distinguishing features of interrogative suggestibility are: (i) it involves a questioning procedure within a closed social interaction; (ii) the questions are mainly concerned with past experiences and events; and (iii) it has a strong ‘uncertainty’ component related to cognitive functioning.
